Session 2 ✨
Welcome to the second session of the Cyber Vocab newsletter!
This is Ronan from Cyber Vocab.
Let’s. Get. Started. ⬇️
Study Session 📚
Here are the five terms you’ll need to master by next week!
1. AES256
AES256 refers to the Advanced Encryption Standard (AES) with a 256-bit key length. It is a symmetric encryption algorithm adopted by the U.S. government and widely used globally for secure data encryption.
2. Security Information and Event Management (SIEM)
Security Information and Event Management (SIEM) is a comprehensive solution that provides real-time analysis of security alerts generated by hardware and software infrastructure in an organization. SIEM systems aggregate and analyze log data from various sources, including network devices, security appliances, operating systems, and applications, to identify irregular patterns or activities. Key capabilities often include log data collection, event correlation, alerting, dashboard visualization, and reporting.
3. Vishing
Vishing, derived from the combination of "voice" and "phishing," is a deceptive tactic employed by cybercriminals to extract sensitive information or money from individuals via telephone calls. In vishing attacks, the perpetrators often pose as representatives from trustworthy organizations or institutions, such as banks or government agencies, using manipulative or scare tactics to lure victims into revealing personal details, passwords, or credit card numbers
4. Ransomware
Ransomware is a type of malicious software designed to encrypt a victim's files or lock them out of their system, demanding payment (usually in cryptocurrency) to restore access or decrypt the data. Victims are typically presented with a ransom note detailing payment instructions and threats, such as permanent data loss or public data exposure if the ransom is not paid within a specific timeframe.
5. Port 80
Port 80 is the default port number designated for the Hypertext Transfer Protocol (HTTP), which is the primary protocol used for transmitting web content over the internet. When a user accesses a website using a standard web browser without specifying a port number, the browser connects to the web server's Port 80 by default to request and retrieve web pages.
Challenge Quiz 🚨
Every week, you will be quizzed on whether you remembered the words from last week’s session.
This all MCQ test will only take 1 minute.
Let’s see if you remember the words from the last session.
